We stopped at an Amish furniture store that had a ton of playground equipment that we were allowed to play on. We stayed for like an hour! Free fun!

I never see Amish buggies. I know this is not the best photo, but I was just thrilled to see these buggies and I was being quick and unobtrusive.

Results Day...

Results Day...

A very quick self-portrait on the dreaded day all A-Level students have been waiting for since we finished our exams...

I'm ecstatic about my results. I got an A in Photography, B's in English Language and Media Studies as well as a D in Philosophy and Ethics. I didn't expect much from English and Philosophy (so the D doesn't surprise me) but the B in English was a pleasant shock! And the A in Photography... You can't comprehend how happy I am about that. I'm going to try and get my English and Media grades up to A's because it's achievable, and I've dropped Philosophy (which I'm so happy about). Now I'm ready to start A2 work and get this year done, I'm determined to try and get at least ABB for my overall results next year!

Also, I really need a hair-cut!

Mr. Gasket 60 Carburetor Studs

These zinc-plated studs help prevent stripped out threads in the aluminum intake manifold and hold the gasket in place to guide the carburetor. Aluminum threads in intake manifolds cannot take the repeated tightening of carburetor mounting bolts and installation of carburetor studs will alleviate this problem and allow for better alignment of gaskets and spacers. Medium sized studs are 1-1/2 in length, are threaded 5/16"-18 at one end and 5/16"-24 at the opposite end, and each package contains 4 studs, nuts, and washers.

Dam has calmed so R7F puts him on the keyboard. (Dam is in no shape to stand at the moment.)

Lenny returns from his music making session. Figuring the interview was called when he left, he was wondering why the others hadn’t come with him. "Dudes what is the hold up?"

Samantha goes to assist the dizzy Dam on the keyboard, but a noise to her right draws her attention. R7F has collected the entire equipment collection and in one hand. She smiles and says, "You’re…"

Lenny who is next to R7F at this point, is holding up his guitar to add it to the pile completes the interrupted Samantha with "…HIRED, dude".

Dam who is coming around adds, "What!!!"

Samantha gives his a quick look that would be loosely interrupted as "Are you stupid."

Dam adds, "Oh okay, you are good at carrying and security. Welcome to the band."

R7F beams with pride, he scored a job. "How much does it pay…."

They work out the conditions of employment and position the band equipment again, before R7F departs to return when the tour starts.

He has a 50 dollar bonus and he is feeling good.

No visit to Porto would be complete without seeing the caves where the famous port wines are aged and stored. Actually, this is done in Vila Nova de Gaia, on the other side of the Douro river, accross from Porto. I picked Sandeman for a tour and tasting, following the recommendations of the hotel receptionist. The tour started at 11, so I had time for a walk in downtown Porto before.

Mr. Gasket 98 Carburetor Heat Dissipater - Measures 1/2-Inches

This heat dissipater or carburetor spacer is manufactured from a laminated heat-absorbing gasket material which is separated by layers of aluminum alloy. It has an open style and is 1/2 thick. It works by forcing engine heat in the air stream away from the carburetor and provides a smooth transition of air and fuel from the carburetor to the intake manifold to enhance flow and performance. It insulates the carburetor from engine heat and gives clearance for linkages. It is for Holley and AFB applications

A Statistical Analysis Of Construction Equipment Repair Costs Using Field Data

A Statistical Analysis Of Construction Equipment Repair Costs Using Field Data

This is a AIR FORCE INST OF TECH WRIGHT-PATTERSONAFB OH report procured by the Pentagon and made available for public release. It has been reproduced in the best form available to the Pentagon. It is not spiral-bound, but rather assembled with Velobinding in a soft, white linen cover. The Storming Media report number is A578643. The abstract provided by the Pentagon follows: The management of heavy construction equipment is a difficult task. Equipment managers are often called upon to make complex economic decisions involving the machines in their charge. These decisions include those concerning acquisitions, maintenance, repairs, rebuilds, replacements, and retirements. The equipment manager must also be able to forecast internal rental rates for their machinery. Repair and maintenance expenditures can have significant impacts on these economic decisions and forecasts. The purpose of this research was to identify a regression model that can adequately represent repair costs in terms of machine age in cumulative hours of use. The study was conducted using field data on 270 heavy construction machines from four different companies. Nineteen different linear and transformed non-linear models were evaluated. A second- order polynomial expression was selected as the best. It was demonstrated how this expression could be incorporated in the Cumulative Cost Model developed by Vorster where it can be used to identify optimum economic decisions. It was also demonstrated how equipment managers could form their own regression equations using standard spreadsheet and database software.

eight hours in the office sunday

eight hours in the office sunday

trial prep. despite what law & order would have you believe, a full trial is pretty rare. we have one starting tomorrow. the lead attorneys have put in far more than 8 hours a day for nearly a week. us junior folks kicked in some time today. lots of printing and organizing and, obviously, label making.

don't get me wrong. I loved law school. it's this lawyer thing that's not actually so great as I'd hoped. I find this sentiment to be fairly prevalent. everyone in my office teases the paralegals who plan on going.

at this point--with the cost of a legal education balanced against how much money you can really make as a young lawyer--I don't think it's worth it. the amount of money I pay to debt every month would be enough for a really nice apartment in an up and coming neighborhood, and I wouldn't be 30 and living with my mother. that sucks. but I have a highly-respected degree from a highly-respected school. and I'll be paying for that for decades.

The effects of mechanised equipment on physical load among road workers and floor layers in the construction industry [An article from: International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics]

This digital document is a journal article from International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics, published by Elsevier in 2007. The article is delivered in HTML format and is available in your Amazon.com Media Library immediately after purchase. You can view it with any web browser.

Description:
This study describes the impact of the use of mechanised equipment on physical load and workers' health among road workers and floor layers by comparing the traditional manual work method with frequently occurring scenarios of use of this new equipment. Continuous direct measurements of postures were linked to real-time observations of tasks and external forces applied during manual materials handling. A self-administered questionnaire on musculoskeletal complaints was used. The introduction of a hydraulic clamp or vacuum lift to assist roadmakers while laying a brick-paved road reduced the team's work time in a kneeling/squatting position with 43-52% and frequency of lifting loads of 5-15kg and above 15kg with 46-59% and 84-88%, respectively. The introduction of a mixing machine with a pump system during pouring of sand-cement floors reduced the frequency of lifting loads with 66% for 5-15kg and 15% for over 15kg, but had no discernable effect on awkward back postures. The use of a silo/truck with automated pump system also reduced the frequency of lifting with 32% and 38%, respectively, but increased the duration in awkward back postures with 13%, primarily due to the hodman partly working as floor layer. Floor layers and hodmen using the mechanical equipment reported a lower prevalence of low back pain in the past 6 months and also less associated sick leave. The introduction of new mechanised equipment resulted in changes in physical load per task within jobs, changes in task distribution within jobs, and changes in work organisation and jobs within a team. The judgement of experts on the impact of new devices on physical load should be corroborated in field studies on the average exposure to physical load per work day and per team. Relevance to industry: The study demonstrated the preference of a scenario approach in evaluating the impact of interventions on physical load above the classical analysis of the most strenuous task.

Day 181/365 - Things I miss the most - Part 2

Day 181/365 - Things I miss the most - Part 2

Today was back to the real world day. After getting home from vegas i had a terrible headache. i was able to get to sleep right away but woke up at 3am totally awake and feeling horrible. Usually when i have a headache sleep usually cures it. I tried to take a couple of aspirin but all it did was upset my stomach. I battled with the pain for alittle while til i threw up whatever i had in my stomach and took a very hot shower. Somehow i was able to finally get to sleep and i felt better in the morning. I really need some medical insurance so i can get checked out. I been feeling ill for the past week now where it feels like anything i eat can turn against me. Todays shot is a shot of my goal pads. I custom designed these pads about 5 years ago when i worked for a company called hockey giant. Sadly i haven't been able to use the gear in months. Most of the ice rinks around here have done away with there pick up hockey and the only way i will be able to play again is if i join a league but it would cost way to much money. I really miss being on the ice. Hopefully i will be able to make it back soon. I just hope i will be able to sleep tonight. At 11:38 it's 89 degrees outside. It was well over 100 during the day i really hate hot weather. ugh im not looking forward to summer.

Day 40/365 - Go CP's

Day 40/365 - Go CP's

This shot was extremely hard. I wish i could of took this picture on the ice but i had to do the next best thing.. my room. It was super hard trying to set the camera up set the remote trigger and get in position. I set the timer for 20 second the maximum it would go but it still barely gave me enough time to throw the remote down get my glove on and pose. I also ran out of room so i couldn't get a complete full body shot like i wanted to but this works as well. Shot with the nikon 50mm 1.8 it's kinda longer then i would like im guessing i need a 35mm or a full frame camera. so i guess everyone mail me donations for a d700 ;) I used a diy home studio layout. Long black curtain hung by a curtain rod in front of my door.

Strobist: sb-800 on the right though a shoot though umbrella. Triggered with nikon CLS via commander mode on the d70 using ttl. I was going for a more harsh light from one side so i guess i would need to build a snoot.
